Getting Ahead- Part one from Loren M. Lambert on Vimeo.

Shot May. 21st-26th 2008 - This is a script written by Loren Lambert with revisions by Lee Gardner. I worked on some of the preproduction and casting.
Shot Mar. 30th 2008 - This was what we shot for Bertolli's contest for a Romantic night in. It was done very quickly but it was still fun to shoot and edit. Although it didn't get the response I expected it turned out fairly well.
Dismatta
Shot Feb. 16th 2008 - This was a piece of a short film written by Loren Lambert. It was shot in a very small hotel room with a very noisy bed. No it's not what you think. It is about a couple who want to end their lives.

It is really only part of the story as it never shows what happens to them or address why they did it. I wanted to post it as an exmple of some of the production work and to show how much music effects what we think and feel. It has temp track music that we hope to replace with a custom crafted score.
Shot Jan. 2008 - This is a small scene written by Loren Lambert. It details the possible pitfals in the workplace if your spouse was your boss. We shot it quickly. I did 3 versions of the edit, PG,PG-13 and R. I plan on posting them after a little more tweeking.
Shot Jan. 11-12th 2008 - This was shot for the 24 Hour Filmmaking Marathon contest put on by the LDS Film Festival. It was an insane project. We basically got the theme, phrase and object on Friday Morning at 10am and had to return the next morning with a finished 3 min short. It was me and 4 other people that put this together. We wrote the story in approximately 4 hours, shot for about 13 hours, edited for the last 5 hours and had an hour of drive time at either end of the schedule. I am surprised at what we put out in those 24 hours.

All in all it was an amazing experience that I probably wouldn't survive more than once a year. Although given more time there are a hundred things I would have taken more time on and or done differently but hey, that's the nature of the beast. I learned a lot, made some new friends and got to know some better. It was a great experience.

Pacification - (Working Title)
Shot Dec. 28-29th 2007 - I was looking for some simple stories to tell to work on my lighting and production techniques. I had a location and an idea for a simple two character story. After mulling over the idea for a week or so I wrote it in a few minutes. It only changed a little bit from that initial version, which surprised me. We shot it over my christmas vacation at a diner in Spring City Utah. We shot the exterior night shots on the 28th and the interior shots with blacked out windows on the 29th. I decided from the pains of trying to edit without slate or clapper board on Silicon needs that I will always use one for any project over one minute long.

Silicon Needs
Shot Oct. 6-7th 2006 - I wrote this short with help from the Utah Screenwriters Group. It was based on an idea from Jim Henderson. We were trying to get this done for a local showing in Salt Lake City but weren't able to get it done on time. I still have to shoot closeups of the computer to shoot. This has been on the shelf while I have been doing alot of writing on other projects but I need to finish it. I have about half of the scenes cut together so far.

Shot Oct. 14th 2006 - This commercial was done in a one shot. A slight bit of sound editing was done so that I could get the exact performance I wanted. It was overcast which was nice for us and provided a good look. I shot it in 24pa on the DVX100 but I should of shot it in 30i so it would have more of a broadcast look. I run in 24p so much that I rarely change it. This commercial was intended for the Utah Film Commission but it didn't win.

Shot Nov. 18th 2006 - This was shot at the Sandy library. I had it written for a one minute and put the best cuts in the commercial. 30 secs will always be a difficult amount of time to get an idea across. This commercial was intended for the Utah Film Commission but it didn't win anything either. I speculate that it was far to controversial for the UFC and as a public body they work not to offend anyone. I also should have done more research to see how well it played with people who weren't familiar with the LDS Church and their missionaries. I did some after the fact with some friends of mine and they didn't get the joke. Oh well lesson learned, do research to make sure your idea will hit with your target audience.

Shot Oct. 21st 2006 - This shoot was nuts. I shot the stuff with the kids first so that we could get the pandemonium out of the way. I double sandbagged everything for safety since there were so many kids on the set. We had a large portion of our equipment setup for this commercial, hopefully the set looks busy. This commercial was intended for the Utah Film Commission but it didn't win anything. I speculate that it was to controversial for the UFC and as a public body they work not to offend anyone and want to steer away from taboo subjects. Everyone I showed it to seemed to think it was funny and the appeal was greater that the missionary one since more people know about polygamists. I think the bonnets are just hilarious.

Released Mar. 10th 2006 - Although this is a little more on the risky side for me, I think of it as a cautionary tale. We filmed this for the 101.9 The End Really Short Film Festival and we won 1st place. The title of the festival not only referenced the length of the film but also how much time they gave us to put something together. It was only 3 - 4 weeks from start to completion, so we had to work fast. We basically adapted an internet joke and worked it into a short movie. Aaron Justesen is the one who came up with the idea to do it. Aaron, Rich Heidt and I worked on the script. Part of the entry requirement was that you had to show 15 seconds of each of their sponsors, Comcast and Cameo College of Essential Beauty , which is why it might seem like I'm hanging on their logos a bit. I wanted no doubt that I had met the requirement.

Dec. 9th 2005 - These are a campaign of commercials targeted to filmmakers and people who work in the industry. I entered them in the Utah Film Commission's annual "Spot On" Commercial Contest. "Darts" received an honorable mention. There were about 50 entries with altogether approximately 150 commercials. There were 6 winners and about 10 honorable mentions, so I didn't do too badly. My entries were all shot using my new DVX100A in 24p. I wrote the scripts based on ideas from Arryn Carreon. It was quite an adventure and I learned a lot.

This is the first short film I wrote and produced. I was based on a bet I had with a friend. We shot this in St. George, UT.
